Religious Education (Faith Formation)

"Life-long faith formation is always needed and must be a priority in the Church's catechetical ministry; moreover, it must be considered the chief form of catechesis. All the other forms, which are indeed always necessary, are in some way oriented to it."
- Ven. John Paul II.

St. Mary's parish, and it's mission Good Shepherd, takes seriously the words of Pope John Paul II.

In order that we might achieve life-long faith formation, and at the same time respect the busy schedules of families, our faith formation classes and sacramental preparation for adults, youth and children are held on one evening - all at the same time.

When children and teenagers see adults attending classes they come to understand that learning and growing in faith on deeper levels is an important life-long responsibility; thus, our adult sessions are for ALL adults in our parish, not just those with children attending "RE."

Parents / guardians from Good Shepherd attending adult sessions at St. Mary's are encouraged to register their child in the St. Mary's classes.

For additional information please call the parish office, 556.5544, and leave a message for Mrs. Wanda Bunting, our Director of Faith Formation.

FAITH FORMATION MINISTRIES
Through baptism each of us is called to "teach all nations . . ." While most of us will never go on mission to foreign lands we have many occasions when we can share our Catholic faith with family members, friends and other parishioners.

Our faith formation programs offer several opportunities for you to share your faith with adults, youth and children. These include:
  • Children and Youth Catechist (Teacher), Aide, Substitute, Monitors, or Office Helper; and
  • Faith Companion for adults inquiring into the Catholic faith
just to name a few.

All adults working with children and youth must complete a formal application and the Ethics and Integrity in Ministry workshop (diocesan requirement).
