Senior Citizens Group (OWLLs): The OWLLs meet twice a month on the second and fourth Fridays at 3:00 PM for a social activity. This group is open to all of the senior members of our parish.

Altar Society: The Altar Society meets once a month on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM. Its members are women in the parish. Their spirituality is lived in their being privileged by taking care of God’s house. They clean the linens as well as the vestments. They handle preparation of the church for special feast days. They hold fundraisers throughout the year to use for the purchase of new linens, vestments, and other needed items for the church.

Guadalupanas: The Guadalupanas is a group of men and women who are bonded by a desire to serve and who have devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Their spirituality is expressed in the extension of public and private devotion to our Lady of Guadalupe. They hold fundraisers to fund their many benevolent projects. They also organize the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe in December of each year. They meet once a month on the last Sunday of the month at 1:30 PM.

Food Pantry: The food pantry operates as an emergency food pantry for citizens in and around Lampasas County. The hours of operation are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Volunteers are needed to operate the pantry at these times, as well as to help with food pick-ups on delivery days. The food pantry volunteers are ever aware of the scripture which says that “as long as you do it for one of these, the least of your brothers and sisters, you do it for me.” They believe that their ministry is serving Christ in those who have needs.

Thrift Store: We are currently exploring the idea of operating a full-time thrift store. At this time we are looking for a volunteer or volunteers to manage the store. There are many people in our community who can share their goods with others and what they give becomes a second blessing for all concerned.

Welcoming Committee: Every one is a member of the Welcoming Committee when you meet someone you do not know. This ministry can be expanded, though, through follow-up calls or home visits if desired after the parish registration card is received in the office. Perhaps little welcome packets with local area maps and information, as well as other little goodies could also be given out. We are currently looking for a chairman for this committee as well as people willing to serve in this ministry.

Hospitality Committee: This committee is actually the group of volunteers who handle all of the kitchen activities.

Sunday Morning Breakfast volunteers: These volunteers work in groups that take turns operating the kitchen on Sunday mornings to serve breakfast.

Taco volunteers: These volunteers work in groups that take turns operating the kitchen on weekday mornings making breakfast tacos.

Tamale volunteers: These volunteers work together to make tamales numerous times during the year.

Tortilla volunteers: These volunteers work in the afternoons or evenings to make the tortillas that are used each day for the tacos.

Special Event Cooking: Occasionally we have special events that need special foods or full meals to be prepared. An example of these events are the deanery meetings held here several times a year – a full meal for the priests must be prepared in the kitchen. Special Event cooking might also be just the need for a certain food item brought from home, such as a baked good for a reception. This ministry would be on an as-needed basis.

Prison Ministry: This group makes regular visits to prisoners in local jails. “When I was in prison, you visited me.”

Bereavement Committee: This is a ministry of people who respond immediately when notified of a death to provide assistance with the funeral, reception or other arrangements if requested. Follow-up calls may be made to family members for several months following a death.

Ministry for the Divorced and Widowed: This is a new ministry that we are interested in starting. It would be for spouses who are divorced or widowed. We are currently looking for someone to coordinate this effort and to find out the level of interest in this ministry.

Hispanic Ministry: This is a ministry dedicated to encouraging and supporting leadership and ministries within the Hispanic community. We are currently looking for someone to coordinate this ministry.

Family Life: The mission of this ministry is to provide services that affirm the sacredness of life, the sanctity of marriage, the sacramentaliity of the family and a Christian lifestyle, through all phases of human growth and development. This ministry would help to promote Natural Family Planning, conflict resolution, family life issues, human sexuality ministry, and other services.

Wellness Ministry: This is a newly formed ministry that will be bringing programs to the parish which focus on wellness – spiritual, psychological, and physical. People are needed to help organize these events.

Ministry to the Sick and Homebound: This is also another ministry that we hope to see grow. Volunteers are needed to visit and bring the Eucharist to Catholics who are ill or confined at home, in the hospital or in a residential care facility. They also make calls and visits to the elderly and could coordinate special projects between our youth and the elderly or shut-in. Parishioners can also assist by providing names of those persons hospitalized or otherwise in need of these services. We are currently looking for someone to chair this ministry as well as for people willing to serve in this capacity.

Respect Life: This is a ministry involved in Pro-Life Activities which reflect the church’s firm conviction of the dignity of each and every human life at all stages and to bring about a conversion of heart and mind for all to be open to God’s special gift of life.
